Oh man, i am so waiting for this one. I have used many GPS softwares and devices and in the end i have always gone back to iGuidance. Its very easy to use and setup and even a dumby can understand it. I just hope this isnt a pita to get embeded into CF.

other than the new map, doesnt seem like there's any much different from version 4.
i doubt navteq "traffic pattern" feature will work since traffic information on street routes are never recorded in the US. during peak traffic hours, the city routes/streets are usually worst than on the freeways anyway, especially in the major cities.

the 3d navigation mode is the same as v4. if you are talking about the lane changing feature, i dont think it is in 3d mode. correct me if i'm wrong, like the traffic patern feature, i believe it is more of a marketing ploy. these are just photo images incoporated into the map. i dont think it is much different, but a bit more sophiscated, than POI. you driving at certain direction and at certain point, these "3d lane changing" images would pop up. i dont know how many exit ramps and juntions are there in the US highway system, but must be in the hundred of thousands. navteq only has 3000 of these recorded. i doubt you would see many of these poping up on your trip.

The interchange viewer is the most helpful. And if you ever drive to a big city you dont know like the back of your hand it will be well worth it.
What do you do when you are in a megatropolis and the direction is "keep right onto Highway X" and there are 3 lanes or more for that exit but you dont know that so you are in the outermost right lane? Do you go to far right lane only to find out the next is "Keep left on Higway Y". Or do you gamble that there are at least 2 and stay in the second to right most lane only to find it is a 1 lane exit and the guy next to you wont let you in... All that sort of stuff is very frustrating when driving somewhere you dont know.
Just spent a week in LA and my god is that crazy. Only had a portable Garmin GPS, and I dont know why but their newer unit seems crappier than their old units. Came free with the rental and was brand new so we used it and left the old reliable Garmin unit at the hotel. Well the new version does just that. Tells you to keep right on a highway. 6 lanes 1 way, and keep right. So you do. After the turn it takes a good 2 seconds for it to register, and then "In 300 feet exit left". Well cutting through 4 exit lanes of traffic to get over to exit within 300 feet in rush hour isnt happening.

That and the new maps are the exact features I really wanted, so if those are the only updates, Im happy!
I saw an ad for some no-name GPS that had a viewer and I really thought it was a great idea! Then I realized that iGuidance 2009 has one too, and if my location is on the new maps, I'm sold.
