Infill T3 Repairs?
Do you guys handle the repairs to the Infill T3? I sent it to the installer, after I had it running here for a month on my desk, and they smoked it. They told me a puff of smoke came from the noise filter. I removed it from dash and checked out the noise filter and there was no power on the PC side. I installed a fuseable link and powered it directly and PC comes on, but I get nothing from the screen... it doesnt even try to open. I can open the front panel and see the small touchscreen.... then it will blink error 114v and all lights flash blue... any ideas?
Thanks,
JoelM

Sorry to hear that you have a problem. But, I'm awaiting a noise filter myself that I ordered to install on my unit to try to get rid of the static. What kind of noise filter did you use? I'm planning to put American International S-15A Power line noise filter. Did you put it on yourself or the installers? Was T3 with the noise filter working fine while it was on your desk? Because, I don't want my T3 to get toased.

Bigjoe-
How did you power your unit? Do you have enough amperage?

I powered it on my desk with a computer, using the 12 volt line that you would use for a Hard Drive... worked great....
If your talking about the truck, I used the regular stereo unit harness that powered the Boze head.

Wow.... I pulled unit from truck and hooked up on desk... attached external monitor and unit fired up fine... checked connections and found that the connection with the large top/bottom connector is very sensitive. I had it taped together but it still managed to come apart slightly and that was all the problem I had... all is working fine on desk again!! Picked up a new noise filter and going for the truck install again... we'll see how the filter works and report...
Thanks to all who replied,
JoelM

I hope that you aren't planning on leaving that taped together.
Tape should never be used to hold wires together. It should only be used to cover joints that are made properly, and even then, heat shrink is a better solution by far.

No.. I was talking about the large black plug that snaps together the top and the bottom of the T3. The tape was to make sure that the plugs would not pull apart.... not talking about bare wires

Instead of tape for that - use zip-ties. They are much more secure and do not come apart over time due to the temperature. The slits are perfectly sized for a zip-tie.

Thanks RedGTiVR6, thats exactly what I did! All is working great but lots of engine noise.. taking to install shop to see what they can do... the T3 doesnt mount well in a Hummer H2 either... tried to split the pieces but the cables werent long enough to do it like the Infill site showed on another Hummer install. Maybe the shop can do some sort of custom box for it..
Thanks for the help!

The T3 was not designed to be installed as two seperate units. It was designed to be used as a double din unit. Unfortunately, there are no known cables to extend the screen cable. How they did it on their web site is unknown.
