T3 coffee cup shelf

Well, my T3 screen finally bit the dust. It lasted a whole month and a half. The screen is refusing to fully retract back into the unit. So now it makes a really great coffee cup shelf. Or maybe a good spot to glue my plastic Jesus.

So, I have put an order into the new "screen repair" section of the MP3Car.com store. I am hoping they can work some magic and get it back to normal. Otherwise my significant investment in my car PC is going to take a serious hit.

Anyone else experience screen issues? Anyone able to find someone to repair them?

So is it not retracting when the computer is turned off? With screen out, does the computer still work?

Have you tried pushing the "Off" button behind the lower unit's front panel?

Have you tried pressing the "Reset" button behind the lower unit's front panel?

Have you tried completely detaching the power cable from both the top and bottom unit?

I've had instances when T3 wouldn't start up and pressing "off" button and "reseting" it helped it come alive.

No... I tried to use the monitor retract button (upper unit, right side). The monitor folds down, but doesn't retract.

I have tried full power "off," "reset," everything... I am shipping it in for repair today. MP3Car.com is telling me it may take more than a month to fix.

oh, I would have tried unscrewing the top lid off the top unit, 'cause that's all it takes for the monitor to retract. The top lid has the rack railway, and once the lid is off, the monitor moves freely...but, if you already sent it, oh, well, hopefully mp3car will fix it for you

Problem is it was getting worse and finally stopped retracting. There must be a motor or gear that is shot and probably needs replacing.

Fix for T3 screen not retracting!

Scott, I had the issue one time after I actually opened the unit to upgrade memory and hardrive.

If you look closely at the screen where the hinges meet, there is a little button that gets depressed when the screen is level and ready to retract back into the unit. If the screen gets slightly bent upwards, it does not meet the contact on the button.

The button tells the infill that it is horizontal and ready to retract. If you pull down on the screen right when it is almost horizontal, I bet it will retract. I used a little extra force with the power off to try and align the screen better to hit that button. It worked! You could also put a dab of glue or epoxy to make the button stick up a little more(Let it dry overnight!!!).

I hope you didnt send it in yet. When it happened to me I thought it was done for. Since I "readjusted"...the problem hasn't returned so far and its been 8 months.

Hope this helps.

Yeah... too late. I shipped it last week. No worries... I thought about opening it up, but figured it would be a mechanical issue. It may be a long time before I see it again, though :-(

If it starts happening again, in the future, I take a look at the button you mentioned.

Thanks for the info!

Having same issue but the screen only stays in full upright position. I can "assist" it with some downward pressure and it actually closes and will re-open just fine but will not close at all on it's own.

Careful with that! I did the same thing and eventually stripped one of the gears.
