Simple request - USB arrow pad that I can hack up?

I have been looking for a USB arrow pad... and only that.

I want to be able to hard wire 4 arrow keys in the center console using a simple device that I can hide underneath the console and run diff wires/switches to.

Anyone seen anything that may work? A keyboard is a little too big... it needs to be pretty small and simple as I dont have much space in there.

I saw a programmable 4 key USB keyboard strip somewhere. I'll see if I can find a link.

Edit:
This one may do it for you.

How would I program it? Is it a HID device?
