Handsfree microphone

Hi
I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good microphone that isn't too expensive to use as a handsfree kit. I'm not using voice recognition.

I'm using a cheap nasty Creative one that came free with a webcam, while it works the other party gets an echo of what they just said and while driving there is too much road noise and can't make out what I'm saying.
I know the microphone should ideally be directional but I can't seem to find many that are the small lapel type.

Thanks for any help
