Xenarc to control HTC advantage

Hi, I recently bought a HTC Advantage PDA for my job. I noticed it has the capability to control a external VGA monitor. I connected the cable that has VGA out and USB Hub in the same plug to my CarPC install and works really good. I'm afraid (after all the work spent on making a useable setup .....) that this is the ultimate solution: GPS, UMTS phone, video and audio capabilities, internet, wifi .....

The only issue I'm trying to solve: if I connect to the PDA usb port a normal mouse it works perfectly but if I plug my xenarc touch screen usb cable the following message pops up: USB periferal not recognized, enter name (well, something like that, in italian ..) and there is a box in which I can write something with OK and Cancel buttons.

Do anyone know how to make Windows Mobile 6 able to work with a external touchscreen as input device?

Any help really appreciated.

Thanx alot.

You need driver sofftware for your Windoze Mobile device that will control a touchscreen.
considering that most PDAs already have a touchscreen built-in, I don't see this being too feasible.

Roger. Thanx for that.
I suspected something like that .... But what I don't understand is why this couldn't be feasible since the mouse works a charm (even the pointer pops up as soon as I connect it to the PDA). I read somewhere that touch screens output a sort of mouse-emulation data. Or this is not true?

I'd really like to leave the use of devices like trackballs or similar as the last solution.

Any other suggestion?

Cheers.

Any other hints? Or alternative (efficient) methods to input my htc PDA that will be hidden away and connected to my xenarc installed in my dash?
Any help really appreciated.

Sorry I can't help specifically, but have you tried asking at www.xda-developers.com? They have a specific forum for the X7500 / Advantage

It Works !!!

Hi, everybody.

Don't know how many of u are interested in this issue, but anyway:

1. just grab the generic touch screen driver for win ce 5.0 from the usual site.
2. Copy 'n paste the UsbTouch.dll file into windows root directory of the X7500.
3. Plug the video cable (the one with usb connector).
4. Plug the xenarc TS usb cable in the abovementioned cable.
5. Wait for the dialogue box asking for the driver to be used with the unknown device.
6. Write the name of the .dll file copied into the device.
7. Press ok.

et voilą, les jeux sont fait! It woks perfectly, without even the need for calibration.

This is (even if it lacks some of the fun of setting up a carputer from scratch) the ultimate carputer, perfect integration among all application and real time (quite) OS.

Cheers.

Cyberlancer.

This is interesting, surprised more people haven't done this. What cable are you using to connect from phone to screen?

HTC X7500 has a standard (VGA and composite) video output. You must use a proper cable to transform HTC 16 pin port to normal vga + usb port. From that you can connect standard vga and usb plug (xenarc vga and touch screen inputs for example).
