Standard/Simple controls

Hello...

I am wanting to build my Carputer soon and one thing I'm not sure about is controlling simple features like volume, mute, next track, prev. track, etc. I want these controls to be accessible without using a touch screen or keyboard... That way I can do basic commands like that while driving.

Thanks,
-Jason

Do you have steering wheel buttons? If so there is a PAX unit in the store here.

Why not hack a keyboard with these built in functions and fab it somewhere into the console?

or use an i-pac from ultimarc. Just a keyboard emulator, and you can add your own buttons.

One more thing. If you are like me and love premade stuff that is plug and play, then check out xoxide.com
Depending on the money you wanna spend you can get what you are looking for. I would suggest the following.

Moneual Lab iMON Ultra Bay /w Remote Controller
It costs $89.99 ( USD) plus S$H. I really like it. The only issue i can think of is if you don't have any space to mount it. It's also sold in black as well.

quick question... it's a really noob question but exactly how do you use the i-pac? Any examples of someone running one?

The Ipac ships with a utility that basically rewrites your keymaps for you. Friends of mine use them to make DDR pads (professional style... if you can call it that)

You could go so far as to solder a wire onto 2 sheets of metal, touch those sheets and voila! you've made a switch that the ipac understands. Simple as that.
