powering the screen
Ok so the screen came with a power kit that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Is there anyway to directly connect the power to the car so when the car turns on, the screen turns on so I don't have to plug it in through the cigarette lighter?
anyone have diagram for this?

Cut off the cig lighter plug and connect it to 12v switched line & ground.

well i still want an open cigarette lighter, I dont want to completely cut it off. Maybe there is a way I can splice into it? Behind the console?

after cutting off the end of the power cord, just keep the lighter end, so that later you can heat shrink it back together.

just tap into your headunit 12v wire. Use a blue t-tap connector. just look up the color code.thats what I did and I have a xenarc 7''tsv monitor. but to get no buzz or faint lines in the screen and years of good performance, better to use a little power supply. Which im going to get a opus p.o.l 15watt. I think it around $30.00. multiple monitors or 10'' monitors or bigger, you have to have one.

I think you misunderstood.
Cut off the cigarette lighter plug on the LCD power cord, not the cig lighter in your ride.
The t-taps (or vampire taps) that someone else mentioned will work just fine. Tap into any switched 12v power line.

reading the specs on the opus pol it says the input voltage must be 1.5V higher than the output voltage. when my car's engine is running, the alternator puts out around 14V but when the engine is off, the battery only puts out around 12V. does this mean that if i hook up a screen through this thing, the screen will not power up when the engine is off?

Ok, and let me make sure before I go cutting wires. all i do is , cut the cig lighter end on screen with wire cutters. Strip it so wire is showing, attach it to 12v line?
is that how I use one of those vampire cutter things?
Or is it simpler?

yes cut off the cig lighter plug to the monitor. and attach it to 12v line.when you find the line, you can tap into it w/t-tap. or strip the 12v line wire back, twist the + wire from the monitor wire around the 12v line in the radio harness.

no, it works the same as the opus 150. the input range on the p.o.l is 6v-30v and
you can set the jumper to what output you need.(5v,7v,9v or 12v) www.opussolutions.com/index.php?p=product&id=24

WIRE---------------------> WIRE
you have to find out which is + and which is -. then ground the - wire. then hook the
+ to the 12v line wire. then your done. to test, just turn your car on and test both wire that come from your monitor. If it turn on then it works. If not try the other wire. 50/50 chance.

what if I just bought a wire tap. I am so confused on how to actually disconnect one cord and tap into another. I dont want to screw anything up.
Should I just:
1. cut the cig lighter that attaches to screen
2. find pos and neg.
3. put positive on positive of Headunit
4. negative on negative of Headunit
