Terratec Cinergy Piranha USB DVB-T TV And DAB Radio Tuner
Hello
Any one got one of these?
The few reviews I've read state it aint half bad minus the Ģ70 price tag.
I'm looking for digital radio and maybe a bit of TV but have read in the forum that these type of devices dont work all that great in a moving enviroment.
Wondering if the DAB radio would have the same problems?
Cheers
Lee...

I'm into the same issue. Would like to know if anyone has any experience with this in a vechicle?
(There is always the diversity model from Terratec where you can combine the the two antennas to a new improved signal, but as far as I know it doesn't support DAB.)

Hi
I am running this adaptor. few comments
1. the DVB-T reception is not fantastic on the move, but better than pinnacle one i used previously. both ran on external magnetic mounted antennae.
2. the DAB is quite decent while on the move.
3. neither the DVB/DAB does encrypted channels.
4. HD DVB-T reception is a serious CPU hog. I can't get consistent output on a mobile 1.66GHz C2D.
can't test the DMB as we don't have it in singapore, yet.

Guess you are refering to the Piranha-model since you are mentioning DAB? Are you refering to on the move in a car? Did you mount the external magnetic antenna inside or outside the car?
What's most important for me on the move is the DAB-reception, as watching tv on the move while driving a car is not what you should do!

Hi popztarr
i am using an magnetic mount ext antenna (which is not included by the way). the DAB reception strength is 90% most of the time while on the move.
sounds great btw
the DVB reception is not so good when on the move. on standstill it's excellent.
will post a picture when i get around to it.

Picture would be nice, but as said earlier it's DAB thats most important to me. 90 % sounds very good to me, the question is if the reception here in western norway with high mountains (known as a not to good FM-reception area) will be as good as yours.
I would like to know more about this magnetic mount ext antenna that you are using. What brand and model is it, price, etc?
(I'm wonder if anyone knows wheter it's possible to connect the PIRANHA to a standard outdoor car-antenna for FM-radio - the one that comes mounted on the car from the factory, if it would give the right kind of signal, etc?)

Hi
I just got one of these and I can't get it to work. I have followed the quick quide, but donīt get the Windows Logo message (step 5). When it finished it just said something about the hardware may not work properly... etc.
When I look in the Device manager, the drivers are installed correctly. These are the drivers:
Under "Digital Video"
- Cinergy Piranha - Digital Video Control
- Cinergy Piranha - Digital Video Router
- Cinergy Piranha - DVB-T Receiver
In the Terratec Home Cinema program under Settings --> Scan I have two devices:
- Cinergy Piranha - DVB-T Tuner
- Cinergy Piranha - DAB/T-DMB
So I think itīs installed correctly, I just don't get any stations under TV and Radio.
Does anyone have the same problem or maybe help me out? ...please
Best regards Kenneth

Have you run your scan yet? after scanning you have to add the stations you want into favourites.

Hi
Yes I have pushed the button "Scan" (lower left corner) in the Settings --> Scan menu that pops up when the program starts. I push the button, it's scans and then after a while (aprox. 1 min) shows me nothing :-( There are no TV or DAB channels after the scan... :-( It just shows me a blank white screen and then i choose the setting menu again and I have no channels/stations to add.
I think it's a bad device. I know I have reception, because my old Nova-T works. But I want this because it has both dab and dvb-t.
I think I will call the support line and ask for help. It's wired, because I know alot about hardware and software as Iīm educated IT-engineer, but this little device just don't work...argh
