q: virtual drums

I was thinking, if i'm drumming my geer shifting handle - i might as well heve a virtual drum somewhere in the car, i'm sure you all seen dj's druming on kind of a circle divided into 4.
i want to make one with the COM port or the LPT, the thing is it will heve to be some kind of buttons and not touch pad interface, which is... not good.

anyone knows a small similar product? mybe a usb toy.
or some other way to make one with a touch ped?

it wouled be nice even to find a software one before making a hardware one.
10X..

Almost every legitimate drum pad has MIDI support, which you can easily route to the computer via any cheap $20 sound card with a game port. (Alternatively there are also USB MIDI adapters.)

Then, if you're using MIDI, you'll find millions of sampler programs that will happily accept a MIDI signal and spit out sounds. No programming or custom hardware required.

Drum "pads" are often meant to be used with drumsticks, but a lot of drum "machines" or "MIDI Pad Controllers" just have little basic buttons to tap with your fingers. You might find something cheap on eBay or Craigslist.

This one's expensive, but it'd work well -- it even has a native USB interface: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...D24?sku=700812

Rock on.

10q for the comprehensiv (blaa) answer...
thay are expensive, 199$ with 66% off (yeah thenks alot)..
and apealing just as much.. but kinda large to fitt a small 106..
i just made a alitte software in VB that heve 4 buttons with diffrent samples. realy nice adding sum bass to some songs, and really realy fun druming with buth handes on screen, (kinda dangerouse since i was driving...)
I need to look for somthing much smaller to fit into some hiding place in the dash.

and in parallel mybe design some highly sensetive switch to simulate touchpad..

I didn't figure you'd pay the $200 -- it was just an idea for the type of thing you might look for on eBay. If you bought something like that (or smaller or whatever) you could maybe rewire the buttons and mount them somewhere else.
