Getting Space Navigator to work with RR

I know this is probably addressed elsewhere, but if someone wants to help a guy out...

I'm thinking about getting a SN. Is it difficult to make it work with RR? I don't feel like spending hours "programing" to get it to work. How many of you guys have done this? Is it fairly simple? Would it be much easier with the Power Mate? It seems to me the SN would be much more versital because of all the different axis' of movement, is this true? or is it difficult to utilize it to full potential?
Any input would be appreciated
Thanks

The powermate is no slam dunk either. If you want good functionality you will have to learn Girder.

Truthfully, you're going to have to read the entire software dev thread for the SN. It does take a lot of customization to make it just right. But a lot of guys have done all the grunt work for it. Now it's a config file that you'll need to set to choose what options you want. With my SN, all I've got is FF,RR, play stop working. No context switching etc. Probably not using it to it's full potential. You will need to learn and put in some effort to get it to work the way you want it to.

Oh joy

Probably would have appreciated this info before I bought one (just saw that SN for $37 post and orderd one tonite).

So I guess its not going to plug in and control the mouse cursor in non 3d apps huh?

Planned on using it mostly in CF (having a problem with the ts reliably running with my currecnt MB and monitor hardware), just wanted to try running it not usinfg the ts.

Oh well, I do play with CAD and 3d apps as a hobby, cant beat the price, Im sure Ill get some use out of it.

PS Ill look around when I get out of this post, but, can you point me in the direction of the software dev thread? here or at 3dconnexions forum?
