Xebarc 700 IDT remote (what does it do?)

Installed a Xenarc 700 IDT, it came with a small IR remote (no explanation in the manual).

It will turn the unit on/off and change the video brightness, but doesnt seem to do anything with any applications Im running.

Any way to get this to be useful in a windows/frontend type applicatrion?

the remote came with the screen... it is for the screen... has nothing to do with the PC.

if you want a remote to control the PC, then you need an IR reciever on your PC.

Hmm . . .

Nice "feature", they always seem to call attention to it when they advertise the screen.

Nice, but useless :-)

Well thanks, saves me from looking for something Im not gonna find.

It is not useless. You can use it to switch AV inputs. And by relocating the IR port, you can get an IR sender from the PC to send the remote signals to autoswitch the monitor when you go in reverse, or other cool things. Most people chop up their screens when they install and loose the buttons so the remote is the only way of controlling the screen without opening up the dash.

I had room so I have all my buttons and the remote is still in the little ziplock baggie it came in. But it has many uses for a lot of people.
