thats exactly what its being told to do...but what is not happening is its not being told to turn back on after standby...if its not a hardware issue, then you must next check your drivers. turn on your computer from a cold start (not from hibernate or standby), then right click on "My computer" and go to "Properties"...select the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager"...where it now says "display adapters", expand that, and right click on the device shown and uninstall your video device driver.
now i dont know who made your videocard or if its onboard video, i dont know what type it is unless you tell me. what you need to do is go to the manufacturers website and download the latest video drivers and install them.
If your laptop is old, you may not find recent drivers from the manufacturer...but you can hope that the latestones they have fix your problem.
BTW...a driver is a language that allows 2 or more pieces of hardware to communicate with eachother and understand eachother...like if i speak French and only french, and you speak Englich and only English, we wont understand eachother. A "driver" is sort of a translator so we can understand eachother...hope that helps a bit if you didnt know that...
also, download your video drivers before you uninstall your current one...it will help a lot...
keep me posted here, ill be here all night cause im babysitting for some friends...
