Power Acoustik PT-718TS and a PC?

I brought this touch screen without reading about it.
Basically the monitor connects via a standard svideo cable.
But the touch screen control is an "IR REPEAT" connection. (looks like a headphone cable, 3.5mm)

I have no idea where to connect this to on my pc?
Is there some sort of a converter? I've been looking at the USB-UIRT, would that do the job?

Cheers people.

PS: My first post too, hellooooo all!

LOL, do you always buy things without reading about them?

that's your first problem right there... a carPC really needs VGA resolution to be fully usable. S-Video is much lower resolution, which will result in blurry/pixelated images and unreadable text. click here to see what I mean )

that's because there is nowhere to connect it to your pc. PC touch screens are USB (some of the really old ones use serial).

the touchscreen may only be for an on-screen-display. the IR REPEAT probably has nothing to do with the touch screen.

my advice: return that screen (or sell it on eBay) and buy a VGA monitor with USB touch screen interface.

if you insist on keeping that screen (despite the low resolution), then you could replace the monitor's touch panel with a USB touch screen kit (which includes a touch panel and USB controller). if the monitor already uses a standard 4-wire resistive touch panel, then you could buy just the USB controller (you can get kits and/or controllers cheap on eBay )

whatever you decide; good luck

Read my post in this thread regarding Power Acoustics products. Read it and read it well! I despise this company and all of their poorly made products that look great on the outside but don't deliver at all performancewise. I could have sworn this would have finally buried Power Acoustic purchases by our forum members. I guess I was wrong.

ATTENTION FELLOW CAR PC ENTHUSIASTS, POWER ACOUSTIC = CAR PC KRYPTONITE!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
