facial recognition stuff

hey all,
i was browsing the other day, and came across this software:

http://lifehacker.com/software/featu...een-277812.php

basically, its a facial recognition software system for windows, which just uses a webcam to identify you, and then log you on to your computer....

i just got me thinking about all the stuff you could do with some tweaks on a car pc... imagine this: your computer boots up as you press the unlock on your central locking remote, then as you get into the car the webcam identifies you as you, plays a welcome message and starts the car... you could even have it programmed to recognise different people, so when your partner gets in to drive, it welcoms her instead, starts her playlist, perhaps even applies a different ecu profile to engine computer... i know it seems very speculative, but if this sort of software is avaliable as freeware.... it cant be too hard lol... what do we all think?

I think you've just about caused a divorce with that post - missus isnt going to see me for weeks now.. she hates it when I have new projects to mess with!

Anyone know of an 'on the fly' kalmaker style board to tune the LS1 real time? That would be an essential part of something like this.

Im already able to flash new ECU tunes / profiles with EfILive, but to 'swap' them around real time seems like a bit of a challenge, and im not willing to spend $$ on a tottaly new engine management system (EMS, Wolf etc). There has to be a way!

How bout using the PC itself as an ECU? i wonder if any1 has ever done this..

Fingerprint reader would be cool too.. especially one that zaps you if the print doesnt match

Then what? - thief uses a Hirens boot disk to steal your car! haha

Facial recognition has worked very well for me. My Toshiba laptop has this built in. The welcome screen has a "login using face recognition" and it works very well. But I think in the car, there would be too much variance in lighting to make it work well.

that badger snout would be tricky to recognise in the dark.
