Using (almost)ALL buttons on steering wheel to control pc via joycon carpc...

Whilst maintaining their respective functions in the car....

The "problem" ::: my screen is preety far in on the dash, preety close to the windsheild: its quite a streach to get to the screen whist driving.

I have purchased the joycon carpc "adapter" will allow me to use the sterring wheel buttons to control basic functions on the pc
Accroding to the website it supports up to 10 buttons.
I plan on using 8 of the buttons on my steering wheel.
Therein lies the slight issue...
If I press a button on the wheel it will carry out the manufacture's intended function AND the Function I have mapped the joycon to the pc.

My propsed workaround is the install a -two way swtich. One postion will switch the fuctions fully over to the joycon, and the other postion will keep the buttons the way they normally are

Anyone attempted this before?
Any issues I can potentially run into?
Please advise

I am doing a similar set up with my Alpine Head Unit

Like you have a have gone the 2 way switch way, centre pole to the buttons, top and bottom poles to each of the steering wheel adaptors.

It works fine, just have to make sure everything is well grounded as the buttons work on resistance to ground so if you change it too much they don't work (correct me if I'm wrong here)

Wasn't an issue with my alpine and carpc as I could just set the resistances and what they control... might be an issue with oem stereos tho...

cool, thank you
i will have to make sure all the connections are soldered together cleanly, providing the least resistance.

i havent identified which wires are for what, or their location, in order to know how to proceed.
