My new custom control panel, multiple inputs and an LCD
Hi. I added a custom control panel in the place where my cup holders used to be:
- Space Navigator (for things like scrolling lists, selecting different centrafuse modules)
- Arcade-style buttons hooked to an Ultimarc mini-pac (for play/pause and triggering voice recognition)
- 16x2 LCD (shows obdii data and other random things, custom code in-work)
- All of this compliments the original touchscreen-based system

Yeah I think so -- not sure what the "show" part is all about but I'll show up there with the car in any case ;-)

Not sure how willmeyer did it...but I just put an ON/OFF rocker switch in line with the IGN signal wire. So I can cut off the ignition from my power supply. Just a cheap way to allow me to restart the PC.

Yeah more or less the same. I have inline switches in the ACC line in front of the head unit, the PC, and the LCD screen in my center console -- basically so I can turn them off if I want, even though when ON they are controlled by the car ignition.

I have a switch on the ignition line so I can prevent the PC from coming on if I am only switching the ignition on for a few seconds. I want to change it up to a 3 position switch so I can also keep IGN signal to the PSU and keep the PC running if I shut the car off for a moment, such as when dropping something off at work or getting gas.

Yeah I want to do exactly the same thing -- problem is I just couldn't find a 2 pole switch I liked the looks of ;-)
