Serial Cable, would it work?!

Trying to find a long enough serial cable for my touchscreen is proving hard..

I stumbled across "RJ45 to Serial D9 Female" and "RJ45 to Serial D9 Male" adapters - would they work with the touchscreen? I have a box full of RJ45 and can make cables pretty easy - if this works.. then I'm sure my serial cable is sorted.. but it seems to easy? Heh.

Screen is a 700YYV if that matters...

Daz.

back in the day, we had a 486 (DX baby!) and a 286 networked with one big *** serial cable from the basement to the 2nd floor. we played that old *** mech type game once too. the game came on some 5 1/4" floppys

slower then a geo with one gear

but it worked. serial cable have better range capability then parallel cables. the signal doesn't degrade or accept interference as much as //

So basically, I get two Serial 9 pin connectors, and do a straight through cable with CAT5? And that will work with my touchscreen?

Odd here in the UK! I found one now though, which is 3M and a good price - Although, I'd probably need two!

I'm thinking about this CAT5 thing - knowing me tho, I'll end up buying the two ready made items.. Hehe.
