Make sure you select the proper plug-in and correct COM port in the settings in Girder.

I don't think you can use the reciever with most of the other remotes out there. I've never been able to use other ones and I don't think anyone else has been very successful either, but you never know...

Can someone please help?? I have the same problem with Girder and the Creative remote. It works fine with the included software. Do I need to completely uninstall that and use girder exclusively? The instructions on the Girder website seem like they would be helpful once you have the hardware recognozed and functioning. :/

I would uninstall the software that came with the creative remote...it's not very good compared to girder.

now open girder, go to 'file' => 'settings' => 'plugins', select the 'UIR IRMAN....' (I think it is at the bottom of the list) now from the same window select the 'settings' button and make sure you have the correct COM port selected. Now make sure 'auto enable input devices' selected. You may need to enable, disable and enable again for it recognize your reciever. Now push a button on the remote and see if it recognizes it.............hope this helps.

I'm using the creative remote with a live drive so I suspect that we're talking two different concepts here, I'm not sure.

I'm not sure if you've already done this but you need to use a plugin to get girder to recognise the creative remote. The zip file is called "MidiInSysEx" on my PC and I believe that it's on the Girder site somewhere. I seem to recall that you have to put the dll in the zip file into your plugins directory for girder.

After that go into Girder settings and make sure that you tick the MidiInSysEx plugin and you should then be able to get your creative remote working with girder.

There are several different kinds of creative remotes you can get. I have the credit card remote, and i have it working with girder.

you need to select the "UIR/IRMan/IRA/CTInfra/Hollywood+ Pluging" in the preferences window, and make sure you have the right com port selected.

also, i dont think the reciever can be used with any other remote, as it uses a special format for the signal.
