Curiosity:

Thanks so much!
I hooked up the joypad to my Sony adaptor I purchased for my car as you described and IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY!!!
I did as you suggested and checked for voltage across the the ground of the joypad and the ground of the Sony adaptor and I found 0.13v... could this cause a problem in the longrun ? Is there anything I can do about it?
I only found this voltage when the laptop was powered using the incar charger, it was 0v when on battery..

I'm soooo pleased it works, thanks for your help!!!

It should be fine. If it was like 1-50V it would have been a big problem. 0.13V may cause a little ground hum at high volume. If so, you may want to ground the laptop better.

If it jumps around with no buttons pressed, just put a 100K resistor between the input and ground. That's all you need.

I've previosly gotten this working when I used a soundcard with an integrated gameport. I'm not too concerned about hooking up the Sony X4S to the K8055 but I am curious about the amount of DLL modifications required.
How much .dll tweaking is required for windows to recognize the K8055 as a gameport device?

There are a few K8055 plugins for frontends and some have source. Just search the forum.
