Im not much into the illuminated keyboards even though they could be useful at night. My biggest gripe with the wireless keyboards I have seen is that they are line-of-sight. I have no intention on aiming my keyboard while im typing or mounting a little black box somewhere. Trackballs are ok, but I intend on installing a touchpad in my cup holder, so its not neccessary.
That usb hub one seemed cool until I thought about actually using the slots. How many wires do you really need coming out of your keyboard?
If I could only find a slim bluetooth keyboard. *dreams*

For the line of site comment that is only for the infrared not the radio wave ones.
Illumination is for 2 factors coolness and visability

So does there exist a keyboard that doesn't require the line of site, that works perfectly (some of those radiowave ones suck with the mouse), has a trackball, and is slim?

If you dont want to be restricted by line of sight, then bluetooth is the way to go (IR wont work). Unfortunately they are all freaking expensive - atleast 150 dollars, it seems.

The price is the only reason that I won't go bluetooth

I hear ya. But do you really need to not be in line-of-sight with the reciever? The keyboard with the trackball I have has an excellent range (7 meters) and can flawlessly pick up signals from almost any angle between 0 and 180 degrees. Lets say you put the reciever in the right corner of the windshield (over on the passangers side) - Im positive you could use the keyboard without any problems from anywhere in the frontseat.

Oh, cool. That doesn't sound too bad.... Only bad thing is that is going to make me have to run another cable to the front of my car. Not too bad though if I can put the reciever where I want up there.

Well, since I use this keyboard for my regular pc at home, I just use a regular mouse.
I have been using an extension-cable to this keyboard - a ps2 cord. And I think that the trackball only behaves very badly when I use this extension-cable - without it, it works quite well, if I remember correctly. Atleast enough for using it in the car. But since you need to use an extension-cord to connect the reciever to the pc (Im assuming you have the pc in the trunk, right?) youll probably have that same problem unfortunately.
Btw, this keyboard has an excellent "feel". I mean, most mini-keyboards feels kinda funky, not like a real keyboard. Not this one.
