Anti

I'm actually thinking about getting one of these as opposed to getting a touchscreen., but it looks like I'll just have to fork it over as well.

thanks

Okay here is the Remote i just ordered. It has 4 buttons that i cant see what they are but i could program them for whatever no matter what they are. It is low profile and perfect for my use. I just hope that it works with the serial IR reciever that i plan on getting (IRMAN)

It is the new Windows Xp Media Edition Remote

This remote is manufactured by Microsoft and is very compact at 5 inches long 2 inches wide and is very thin at only 1/4 inch thick!

Woohoo. I just recieved my Media remote and let me just say that this thing is friggen small and comapact. I mean it really is perfect sized.

The unreadbable light grey buttons on the remote towards the bottom are (from left to right) "Recorded TV", "Guide", "Live TV" and "DVD Menu"

I will be using these buttons for DVD, GPS, Radio (once seths radio gets integrated with frodoplayer ), and the Main Audio/Video Player.

Even though they are mislabled I will bring these to work and ask one of the industrial designers of there is anything i can do to relable them while still making them look OEM

Well i am finally getting back to this post.

Bad news folks... i tried this remote out with two IR receivers one USB receiver and one serial reciever (IRMAN). and unfortunatly I am looking for another remote.

I don't know what the problem is but it keeps sending different IR codes from the same button. I may have a faulty unit or i might just have to have the IR reciever from microsoft. Either way I am now selling the IRMAN becasue i know that the USB one was working correctly and looking to buy a different remote

I am really bumbed becasue this is the coolest slimest remote that had all of the perfect buttons. I would do anything to get this working but the fact is that it doesn't look too good.

Does anyone have any links on any new Compact IR remotes?

it might be sending a sequence of codes if you keep a button pressed as this is how some TV's etc work. Some settings on my all-in-one remote do that. I think if you train girder to pick up all of them it will work ok.
