Yea oopics are neet little things. Its such a shame that pic microcontrolers have to be programed in asembly sence they are so cheap. There is a compiler that lets you use basic stamp code but it cost like $250 for the software

Thats one big pic. I figured that how u were doing your display. You shoul be able to modify the mettle gear survo but you might need to use a file insted of some small snips. One of you crazy people buying xenark displays should pick me one up too.

Metal gear servos are exactly as modifiable as plastic ones.

If you don't need to do data acquisition (eg, you only need to control servos), then a serial servo controller is cheaper then OOPIC or BX-24 or Basic Stamp. Here's one I've used: http://www.seetron.com/ssc.htm

In this conversation, we're talking about R/C model airplane servos. They are small devices that are used to move control surfaces on radio control airplanes back and forth. They make precision movements back and forth.

I have a basic stamp 2, did some really neat things with/to it before, it's really simple to program. Just to be sure, check the specs on the board, but my BS2 module can take approx. 4-16V on the PWR-pin. If yours has this too, you can just hook it up to your cars battery.
It alse has a +5V pin which you can use if you already have a stabilized voltage. If you use the PWR-pin, the BS will output a stable +5V on it's +5V pin.
