using PlayStation 2 keyboard/joystick as input device?

anyone tried to use a PS2 USB keyboard and joystick as an input device??

something like that

http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/96326804031.html

I am certain there are also smaller ones - where the keyboard is integrated in the joystick and not the opposite... I saw that on TV this week-end, and tought it would be perfect for in-car operation...

I am pretty certain there is a way to plug the joystick to the PC and have it work normally... ?

May require the proper drivers to use that joystick on a PC...

Are you looking for something like this?

I just won one of those a little while ago. The keyboard is removeable, and pretty small, so it is now in my car. for half the price you could get the keyboard by itself. You can get an adapter to make the ps2 controls show up as a usb joystick (search for kiki joy).

The Nyko itype2 is super small, and also works as a regular usb keyboard when hooked up. I was thinking about getting one of those, and either using it as both, or, ripping out the keyboard, and just having a super small keyboard for use in the car.

No it is not the one I was thinking about - it is a playstation 2 standard joystick with a thumboard-sized keyboard on it. Still cannot find it.

anyone know if Playstation2 is USB compatible with adapters?

not sure what you mean by this, but all of these keyboard/joysticks have two plugs. One is a standard usb plug, and will be recognized by your computer as a regular usb keyboard (drivers already included with windows). The other plug is a regular ps2 controller plug, and you will have to get an adapter and drivers (like the kiki joy I mentioned above). Even though they come in the same housing, you can use either one, without using the other.

what I would want to do is use both the keyboard and joystick in on my PC as an input device... I guess I will have to get the USB adaptor, but would have liked to be able to connect it USB right ahead.... :S

the iType2 is great for that.
its exactly what I was searching. Thanks a lot.

That gamepad is pretty cool. If you do plan on getting it, I'd reccomend getting this adaptor for the joystick:

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...ducts_id=3172&

Theres a 2 port version as well:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...ducts_id=3176&

I have the 4 port one ... been using for a year now and NEVER a problem - unlike a few others I've bought. Drivers are small, slick and to the point. Never have problems detecting gamepads. ALL playstaion controllers work. Rumble, wireless.. everything!

I use it with a little proggie called joy2key (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA016823/) and I can run media engine with my wirelss ps2 gamepad.

BTW- Why isn't there a girder directx gamepad plugin... I've searched high and low to no avail ... is there something I'm missing???

I like the 2-port version, as it would get into my car with only a single controller... thanks a lot.

Yep there is a joystick plugin - it is currently under development and available on some threads. Do search here or at girder about joystick plugin

it works great.
