disabling laptop ibm T42 onboard microphone.

any ideas how to do this? mute on sound properties in windows XP doesnt do it.

Try this,
go to control panel>thinkpad configuration>disable the microphone there.

ive searched the TP config control panel, where inside the panel is the microphone control? its not under audio properties

Sorry Whiterabbit, I wasn't able to find the function for disabling the mic in thinkpad configuration as well. However, are you sure it didn't help when you mute the microphone in advanced properties at audio settings?

It worked on my t41 though.

figured it out JUST now.

for those who are as dense as I am, you have to select "line in" in the speech control panel settings for it to actually shut the onboard mic off and use line in for a mic.

duh.
