mp3 changers decode most of the info from mp3 files. They are able to send back track names but this feature depends on your HU. If it supports that, then you'll see it. Some protocols such as MBus or PBus does not provide such a functionality. IP Bus has it and I've seen people doing it.

pRoFiT will become famous soon enough
I swear i was looking for this last week and couldn't find anything. Anyways, SWEET!!! I was going to try and design an AI-net version, but i guess i will wait for you to build them . One question, how do you get audio back to the alpine. your pictures dont show rca or stereo plug. shouldn't there be audio from the pc to the adapter so that the audio can be connected to the m-bus cable? or do you splice the audio in seperate.

Also, my alpine has XM control capabilites through the AI-net. i'm not sure if that would give me more features then a HU without.

Several people have asked and im not sure if i saw a response. Why not RS232 control? My carpc has two usb ports and I was going to use them for wireless and gps control. but I would have four rs232 ports open.(yes four on board)

Anyways, really cool! i can get rid of my video screen....i cant read the damn text anyways!

p.s. how much longer until m-bus is ready for sale?

Hi

Thanks for the reply

My HU can play mp3 cd's with the internal deck, and i can get track info

What i would like to know, is there a way to interface to the IP-BUS system so that i could use another make of cd changer that can play mp3 cd's ?
and will you be making something that can do this ?.

Thanks again

M-Bus is on sale now. So it is ready. See the first post. For MBus audio come directly from either 3.5'' jask or 2 RCA into DIN8C just let me know which one you need.
If you can start with AiNet please don't forget about check sum algorithm and its high speed.
As of RS232 I want to see the PC knowing what changer it connected to. This way USB is more flexible.

Ok, ok. I'll start working on IPBus<->USB converter. Will update everyone next Monday on status.
Is that sound good ?

What i need to know is there a interface or one in design that can use the
IP-BUS from a Pioneer AVIC X1 HU to another make of mp3 cd changer ?, and show the tracks info on the avic x1 display ?

Thanks again

Not sure I know what you talking to. Here is the site that may help you somehow. And forum is helpful as well.
http://www.vitat.spb.ru/eng/index.php?L1=ip-bus

[edit]Just reread the post and see what you're saying. I think it is not worth to have a solution like that. You have to write 2 pcs. IPBus and <whatever>Bus CDC has. Just use PC instead.

Hi jbors

Thanks for re-reading my last post
After weeks of looking around, it looks like Pioneer don't do an mp3 cd changer!!. as the HU can play mp3's, I wish that they did, it would make things easy

So are you saying that the interface whould have to understand the IP-BUS
info, and then convert it to whatever BUS system the mp3 cdc use's (lets say an Alpine mp3 cdc).

Like:

IP-BUS to AI-BUS and AI-BUS to IP-BUS ????

Hope you understand what iam talking about

Thanks again

Yep. That's exactly right. So you have to implement 2 protocols instead of one.

Hi jbors

ok i know what you are gettin at

I have a Pioneer CDX-P670 cd changer with IP-BUS, non mp3 type.
as this has already got the IP-BUS in the changer Is there a way to mod it
like with some kind of id3 tag decoder (if there is such a thing) so that the
name and track info can then be sent back to the HU (AVIC X1) ??

Sorry to be a pain, but this is buging me as to why Pioneer don't do an mp3
cd changer, instead we have to try and do it another way.

Thanks again

Just a suggestion. If you can open a new thread it would be easier for others to follow. Agree ?

Why not just buy one of these and an IPOD ?
