Hey jbors, can you confirm/guess the functionality of your adapter on the ip-bus/pioneer?

Do you think it will be able to display/scroll long names just like a cd-changer can?

and is there any capability to utilize the scroll wheel on many pioneers? (this is used to quickly scroll through mp3s on a disc)

I think it will be possible. I will confirm it before it will be announced.

thanks, and everyone appreciates what you're doing here... and if you were able to design the interface to work as I described... I could see you selling these things for $200, and still not having enough for everyone!!

I've been looking into many types of massive-storage solutions for my car... including ipod adapters, and phatnoise phatbox/musickeg, and just a carputer in general... none of the solutions are very integrated, and are very akward. Even a touch-screen VGA carputer would be difficult, because you cannot read the screen during the daytime. Your interface would cure a lot of headaches.

and I know you don't have an ETA... but do you think that you could possibly have it done within 12 months?

Thanks,

Steve

I think I'll have it for beta testing in 2-3 months. Will you participate ?

Assuming I have a Pioneer to test it on... right now I'm trying to decide on a new headunit, because my old one failed...

I can't decide between the top-of-the-line Pioneer, or the Kenwood...

I assume Kenwood is very different from Pioneer?

I think I will end up getting the Pioneer p860mp...

either that, or the eclipse cd8455 but then I bet I'll never be able to integrate into a carputer!!

but now you are making me lean towards the Pioneer for sure!

the only thing I wonder about on the Pioneers is that when you 'list' the tracks on an mp3 disc... I wonder if that even sends a command via IP-BUS, or if it's only an internal command... if it's only internal, then the scroll-wheel will be worthless for this IP-BUS adapter...

but it will still be awesome!

and if I have a Pioneer... count me in!

If you don't mind sending to the UK, I could take part in beta testing of a Pioneer unit.

As I wrote in PN, a support from the Optical(Electric)-Audio-Transfer would be very cool as well! I could offer all neccessary Units for such a project --> A complete Old Pioneer ODR, has everything

CD-Changer with Adresses (M1)
Prozessors (P1 + P50)
a HeadUnit (RS-D2)

If it works with it, it will work also with the new Pioneer ODR and P9/P90... And all other P-Modells with the iP-Bus...

I know about 3 or 4 people which are intersted in such a thing and i'm sure a lot of other peoples too

Best Wishes
Urs

Hey JBors I will FOR SURE have a Pioneer headunit to help you test out this cable...

I'm getting the new DEH-p980BT

yeah, it does BlueTooth audio streaming... but I still want see how your cable will work, plus I bet yours will have more functionality.

This has been an interesting thread. I'm looking for information on doing an aux input adapter for a 99-Dodge-Stratus-joystick-radio hack of M-bus. The commercial adapter products start with the 2001 model year. I notice that the oft-quoted M-bus reference at
http://joerg.hohensohn.bei.t-online.de/mbus/
is no longer there. Does anyone know where this might have moved or whether or not it's been archived someplace?

Thanks-Dan

BTW It seems ports 2 & 3 on RS232 are switched... 3 should be connectet to the 100k resistor and viceversa.

Good Luck.
