Based on my own investigation, some other Mazda '96-'01 and many Subaru head units also use M-Bus. There's a guide on miata.net that describes how to connect an '97 Honda M-Bus single CD player to a '97 Miata cassette head unit - all that was required was a connector change! There seemed to be a bit of control weirdness with the disc selection, but that could just be that the Honda CD player is expecting the "select disc 1" packet from the HU before it starts playing.

I know for a fact that NO ONE is making an aux in, iPod or carPC adapter for these applications.

That's correct. They use small variation of MBus.
The reason why nobody do the AUX is that no demand for that. They are pretty old and it is cheaper to get decent stereo with AUX already in.

Alpine 7618E Head Unit

G'day

I know its old.
But if the M-bus adaptor is no longer available to connect RCA plugs or a PC.
Where are the PCB, schematics, and PIC code so i can make this board up myself?

Or does the http://indashpc.org/new/aux_adapters/car2aux-mbus.html
work with a little tinkering to suit Alpine rather than Acura ?

And did this thread's adaptor ever work with an Alpine Head unit that did not have an Aux setting, ie no "M" in its model name?

Any response please.

Alpine DIN m-bus adaptor

G'day

why ask for a picture ?
Its an old Alpine tape deck with the DIN mini-bus CD changer plug out the back.
Circa 1994 I guess.

Where do i get the car2PC m-bus adaptor ?

M-bus for Alpine 7618

G'day

Yep the pc2car m-bus adaptor works.
Was the supplied connecting cable meant to have a separate audio in line?
Its only got a USB PC connection.
No worries for me since the 7618E has separate line in RCA plugs

I also get this regular static pulse noise at high volume, no music playing.
The ticking noise is evident even when the m-bus adaptor unplugged and the headunit displays CD changer error.
Its only present on the CD mode, not tape or radio.
Can't really hear it at lower volumes with the music level.

Note the Alpine 7618E predates the CHM range of products.

Appreciate the Product & the help.

Anybody got a PCB schematic?
Says what pins & Plugs are for?

Ticking sound is due to issues in stereo itself. We saw some stereos having such issues. Nothing can be done.
What schematics do you need ?
Pinout for round MBus plug ?

Thanks, the static tick was a mystery.

The PC adaptor I got has just the round M-Bus connection Din cable.

Two questions:

Was there supposed to be a 3.5mm audio connection into the PC adaptor?

Is there a PCB schematic for the board that indicates purpose/identity of sockets/pins on PC adaptor board.

And a final comment.
For my radio/cassette head unit I actually prefer the quality
of CD-Tape adaptor. maybe because my model has such an excellent tape unit.
There isn't much difference to it, just sounds more clear.
Its like The RCA plugs into stereo from CD changer lose a little something.
But the new PC adaptor means I don't have awkward cables dangling from the head unit...

JBors... I should have no issues running this http://indashpc.org/new/adapters/car2pc-maz.html on a 2006 Mazdaspeed6, right? Just wanted to make sure that there weren't any firmware differences for these later models...
