Just found this link, it would be nice for BMW owners it looks like, but not sure if it would work with Everything, but it is about the AINET.

No! I don't want. I think that could be possible. The problem is that i don't know how to connect to the ai-net... and i think that there must be an audio and control unit unit between the ai-net and the board. It would be great if it is possible... I was searching the Internet about selfbuild harddisk mp3 player to realise my project and this topic was interested for me. I'm searching also for people who wants to help and develop this device.... if anybody is interested for - mail me !!!

It sounds good, except you're practically building a new operating system and a new motherboard...

Update again: After spending couple of days comparing my board to the one I got from the local shop I haven't got solid reason why it is not working.
I'm working on it and hope to resolve the issue by end of the week.
Sorry for delay.

JBORS sorry to hear about the difficulties and I hope you can get them sorted out. I have been stalkin this thread for a long time. And I understand the difficulties of your project. If you can pull this off It would by far be the best input option around, hands down. No offense MR. Boris.

jbors,

I've been pointed here by somebody who was confusing us two. I'm the author of the M-Bus article:
http://joerg.hohensohn.bei.t-online.de/mbus/index.htm

It seems you've put it to good use! ;-)

I'd be interested in what Ai-Net looks like. Is it also a 1-wire bus? What's the speed of it? Is there any documentation?

Perhaps I can teach Ai-Net to my Archos solution, too. It can do M-Bus "natively", with no extra hardware.

Greetings,
Joerg

Hi Joerg,
Thank you for the great project which inspired me.
The AiNet is a serial protocol( half duplex probably ). Not sure at this point if it is 56K or higher. I have the AiNet solution in mind but haven't spend much time hacking the check sum byte yet.
Once I resolve the issues with my current MBus/PBus implementation I will go forward with others. Will keep everyone posted in here.
