neat idea to think about, is that honda factory cruise control buttons come with three switches: speed up, slow down, and cancel. What makes it neat, is that the physical setup of the buttons is such that speed up closes one circuit, slow down another, and there is no third circuit. cancel hits both.

so your late model honda probbably comes prewired to take advantage of these sound card controls.

My wife has a 96 honda accord that does exactly that. However, I would take cruise control over steering wheel volume controls any day. You can't use both.

shrug, simple relay system and you can, actually

or you can do what some have done, purchase controls and put them on the other side of the wheel. admittedly, they used the swix

I had the swix in my truck. While it is convienent, and it can learn any buttons. due to the remote trigger and IR, the response time is absolutely unacceptable. so scratch that idea! but please tell us some more about the interface that connects to the pc?

I am still looking for some alternatives. I have a card that works, has the pins for external buttons, the CT4760. Got it for $10 with shipping on ebay. But now with my mini PC, I only have one card slot. If I want FM only, I can use the D-link, but if I want the TV tuner, I have to with the expensive USB Hauppauge setup.

Anyway, I am looking at building some type of hardware to control the master volume. That is if you want to use the buttons that came with your screen, or other available buttons, or buttons you put somewhere yourself. I have been looking for a remote for the PC with a volume control that doesn't have alot of useless stuff, and also at mouses that have volume buttons, but that defeats my purpose.

If anyone has a solution for externally controlling the volume for an M10000, or any USB, then let me know. I can always hack the output line, but would rather control the master volume.
