Ever thought of adapting a hard drive case? You can have your cd in the front with you

Yes, but you may have a problem driving all the devices from an unpowered one, especially if you are using a low powered PSU

Here's what I have but only 1-4 are actually in use at this moment. 5-7 are just hooked up whenever I need them. #8 I removed because it sucked. #9 I actually just use the on board COM port but it could be USB would have been more convenient.

1) Audigy 2 NX for sound and Radio Line-Input
2) iMic for microphone
3) Touch screen controller
4) GPS
5) Card reader
6) Keyboard (occasionally)
7) 802.11b dongle
8) USB->RS232->AM/FM Radio
9) USB->RS232 for video interlock / lockout

And then you might also want some of these on USB.

10) OBD2
11) Relay controller

yeah, i actually just made a list + map of all my usb devices, and its crazy. i already had a 4 port 2.0 hub with my 2 ports on mobo used (im not using the mobo header), and heres what i'm going to need now: 1 usb 2.0 4 port, 1 usb 2.0 7 port, and 1 usb 1.1 4 port, and thats going to max me out but i'll have 4 spare ports for the console . don't ask, you'll get to see in show off your project soon enough anyways

i take 5v off of my psu and feed it to my first hub that is externally powered (its actually internally powered too, but i cut the 5v line to it. because im using a relay to control its power externally), and then the other 2 hubs are unpowered so they just get their power off of the first one thats switched on and off based on when my comps on or off. cause as some of you know, while your comps in suspend S3 mode, it keeps your usb devices powered...which is very bad

It's just a standard Audigy NX USB. I use the line-in port on the Audigy for radio -- isn't that the way everyone does it? Anyhow I stopped using the radio shortly after I first installed it -- because it sucked. It's not even in the truck anymore.

No.

I don't have one. What I wrote was you MIGHT use USB for a relay controller -- not that I do.

Yes, I used to get this problem frequently but haven't had a problem (yet) following my most recent wiring upgrade.

WOW I got quoted!! I'm honored. Anyway, length can be over come by using more powered hubs. I MIGHT have that problem in the suburban when the time comes. Check out USB.ORG, they have alot of good info on their site. Also MOBO headers may only have 1 controller so watch those 1.1 devices! Best bet for me is a 2.0 PCI card (full sized MOBO) unless you get a multi TT rated hub that TRUELY supports streaming 1.1 devices in to the high speed data stream.

PEACE.
