Debating on a possible remote

Hey everyone, A long time ago I brought up the Blaupunkt RC-10 remote as a possible option for people who were looking for a simple remote.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mtSBN5P...info&i=023RC10

As it has taken me untill the past few months to be able to really work on my project, I was never able to test this out. From what i see on the above website it looks like it is simply a IR remote. so my thoughts are all I would need would be to get a IR reciever and girder and it should work perfectly.

before I go out and drop the cash I am hoping to get some opinions from other members incase I am missing something that I am just not seeing.

any thoughts?

I am using that remote

I am using that remote with a serial IR receiver. I have written some VB code to control the PC, for the moment I can control FrodoPlayer, and I have simulated a mouse and left click.

That is great news .. I am going to look to pick one up very soon then .. any chance you would be willing to share that VB code?

also are you using any particular reciever or is it home-built?

I used an old IR receiver from a remote control for powerpoint I had for some years. I am now busy writing code to use the RC10 to control the whole setup. The problem is that I don't have much time and everything will be hardcoded for my setup. You can have the source code if you like but I have to warn you that I am not a programmer and that the code is not structured. I think that software like Grider can be customized and and will be a better choice for you. If I can help let me know...
