Anyone Tried Using the OnStar Mic for Voice Input?

Just wondering if anyone has tried to wire the Onstar Mic into the computer for Voice Activation? Not sure how good it would work or not, but I was just wondering if it had been tried, since it is in quite a few cars now.

I have one in my car, and Don't use the OnStar service, so I was thinking about maybe trying if it was thought that it would work good, or are these cheap mics?

Been in the UK I am guessing thats a GMC car ? Its its any thing like my Vauxhall ( UK GMC ish ) the wiring should be simply enough to connect to. They place the mic for those with the car kits built in above the drivers head...if they dont its left there any way.
Point is if you track it back you should find a connector there some where... and after all its going to be nothing more than a normal mic.

Per the manual:

Remove the overhead console. Refer to Console Replacement - Overhead in Interior Trim.
Disconnect the microphone (2) connector from the jumper harness.
Unclip the microphone bracket (1) from the overhead console.
Disconnect the microphone 2-way connector (2) from the mating 2-way connector.

I bought an OnStar mirror for my Mitsubishi. I have everything wired. The mic doesn't seem to be working though. I think it needs a higher bias then the mic on my on-board sound can supply. Does anyone know how I would inject a bias in to it?

I'm using the OnStar mic for voice input into my car pc. I just spliced the wires at 8 and 9 (gray and bare) and plugged them directly into my mic input on my mobo. Works great for both voice control and OnStar.

RPM_VR4, if you are trying to use the OnStar mic without the OnStar module than you need to bias it. I tried biasing with a 1K resister to 9V and that worked fine. I also did a 1k/1k voltage divider to the 12V car supply and that worked, too. I don't know if there will be noise issues with using the car supply, though, so it may be prudent to use a voltage regulator.
