Shuttle Express mod
The Shuttle Express is way too big to really fit anywhere, so I decided to seperate the knob from the rest of the device. I think the pictures are self-explanitory. One cavet though: make sure the Shuttle Express is installed and working before you mod it so you know it's not a driver problem when you test. (I forgot to do that.)
You could easily do the buttons as well with another cat5 cable. I may do this in the future.

Awesome! I have the ShuttleExpress in my car, and I've been thinking about hacking it up. This is excellent to see, thanks!

You can either mount the silver part of the knob behind the surface or on top of it. Since I already have the perfect ressed area for it (where the speedo back light dimmer was), I just screwed it in on top and it fit perfectly.

I think the links are good, but they had exceeded their daily bandwidth limit. They're reset for the moment. Murdermuppet, I suggest you don't embed the pictures from bandwidth-limited servers, since it loads for everyone that looks at the thread, not just for the people who want to see the pics.
Nice, btw. Though $50 for a dial is a bit much for me. I'll stick with my aluminum knob + mouse encoder. Jog is nice though, maybe I'll try making mine jog.

It has jog, a second dial on the inside, plus 5 buttons. It's extremely great, I almost never touch the screen while driving.

This is so cool, just what i need for my carpc. You could actually also resolder the miniswitches on that pcb to any kinda configuration you would like, maybe even do some labels for fuction names and stuff.
Guess i have to get one of those as well.......so many gadgets, so little money :-(

just ordered one from www.sharbor.com seems to be quite cheap shipping, only 10,57 $ where others wanted up to 50$ for worldwide express shipping.
