Question Blaupunkt RC8 / RC10

Hi

I need some words of advise ....... I wish to control my carputer via a IR steering wheel remote, however they all seem to come with 9 buttons max.

We need more to controle all the functions.... I am thinking of configuring 2 steering wheel remotes.

I checked the Blaupunkt ones and intrested in the RC8 and RC10.

Does anyone know if these have the same frequency??.....ie if I set the vol+ on the rc8 (media engine) would it be the vol+ on the rc10 ?? As if this is the case I am back to square one

Awaiting for your help guys

Thanks

Just got my RC10 from crutchfield - seems like mucho $$$ for such a tiny thing (a tad smaller than I thought), but it looks nice on my wheel. Keys are a little stiff, but that'll change as I use them.

Planning an LIRC homebrew receiver when I get my order in from digikey (RS doesn't stock the TO-92 78L05, just the larger ones [7805]).

The keys on the RC10 are sufficient for my use - "source", "menu up+down+left+right", "ok," "vol up+down" and "mute/att". What else do you need?

Hi ....thanks for your replies...
Maybe for the repeat and shuffle ..... and some other function it cross my mind, I am planning of only using the steering remote as input !

...However it really lookes nice !!!! the smartes remote I saw !

By any chance it doesnt have a second function or something similiar ey ? that would double the keys!

No, I don't believe that it does - but implementing such functionality in software would be trivial, compared to the expense (in time) of developing an interface for it from the ground-up (which I'm planning to do.) Say, the first hit of the "ok" button without an accompanying u/d/l/r key would put you in menu #1, the second hit #2, third hit could just exit, and so on.

If you're using the Windows-based stuff (frodoplayer? I honestly have no idea...) then I can't help ya - have never touched the stuff. Sorry.
