Creative Infra Remote On Girder

hello all, i got the creative infra remote, with the credit card size remote and gigantic reciever like a flying saucer. i am having a problem trying to make it work with girder, does anyone out there use this remote and what did you do to make it work with girder. first of all i barely made it working under xp. now it works but when i use it on girder, the learn command when trying to map the key, it keeps on giving me an error "error com 1 hex=8" or something. when i suppress the errors, it gives out a code but they never work. anyone have a simpler tutorial with girder and this remote? what plugins to i need to put on girder? i just used the generic ir reciever plugin i think. any help is appreciated. thanks btw, i am trying to make this work with road runner. thanks again

You want to see something really weird? Open the case and see how much actually is in there.

Hehe. Not much in there at all. I chopped mine up and put a USB-serial thing on it, then crammed it into a tiny box with a stereo headphone jack for the remote IR cable.

I didn't use girder. Just wrote my own code because it was easy. I only have 1 com port which is used for OBD-II so had to go USB. It works exactly the same though. No difference, just easier to plug in. The overall cost is a little more though.

You may be able to test it with HyperTerminal, although it's probably going to show garbage. Set it to the right COM port and 2400 baud, then start pressing buttons. You should at least see something if it's working.

I have that same remote.
I hacked it up and ran the Rx into a Belkin Serial to USB converter.

I use my SB Audigy NX Series remote on this cause it works with this Rx and has more buttons. I have the same remote for my ZS Pro on my home pc.

hey thanks for the help, the creative plugin did not work but the com port setting of baud=2400 was the missing answer. got road runner working a bit, i say a bit because i can only open the roadrunner gml file once. after i close girder, and try to open the road runner gml, it gives me an error "cannot open data file". can anyone tell me why i get this error and how can i fix it? thanks again

Sweet! I would never have tried that. I was going to run the Audigy 2 NX IR sensor up to where the others are, but it works! I tried a few other remotes. Just the creative ones work with it.

I would think that girder has bugs and left the file open so it can't reopen it the next time. Does it work if you reboot?

I have had a remote in my new carpc for 1-1/2 years now and haven't used it yet. lol

What's the best way to get it to work with FrodoPlayer? I saw a girder plugin file but didn't do much research on it. Anyone wanna clue me in?

I downloaded and tried girder before. I have a IRMan at home, and the Creative in the car. I can't figure out girder cause I give up after 5 minutes.
