Before everyone starts asking what this will word with, I think it basicalu will work only with VW/BMW electronics. The other cars share the same systems (Audi, 02-05 Range Rover, Mini, Seat) other brands that have no affiliation with the above brands just dont get any support...

I'm interested in being part of the beta test.
Will this plug in behind the stock head unit, or in the trunk?
Do I lose the use of the CD changer?

The adapter will fit either HU or CDC cable in the trunk. You will lose CDC functionality though

Do you think it would be possible to set this up with a switch to allow controls to pass through to the CDC?
I assume you would need another plug, a switch, and some relays...

Yes you can have a manual switch between CDC and PC. Not sure you'll want to get CDC back though

[edit]

So I guess this is not possible? At least not inte the near future... ?

Probably not possible on this version Maņana...
Thats why I said, 2002 - 2005 Range Rover models (afaik the only one that got BMW internals in the Land Rover family) is the only truck that supports this. Now, Ford has bought LR from BMW (bmw developed the current model of Range Rover, the one that is compatible with this, 2002-2005), and is replacing everything with Jaguar (Ford's luxury brand) internals...
I'm also a bit unsure, as it seems that some 05 models already have Jag electronics, which would mean these cant play

damn Well, is it possible that it will become supported, or should I just try to sort something else out?

A buddy of mine just leased a BMW 330, he love the carputer but doesn't want to dismantle his leaser. If this is just plug and play, I think I can talk him into doing some testing for ya.

It is plug-n-play. Of course you will need to take out HU during the installation.
