List of Steering Wheel Remotes

I am in the process of trying to find a steering wheel remote that looks good and also works good. I figured I'd post the ones I've found and maybe people can reply with any experience they may have with them.

Now I'm not sure if all of these are IR but if they are they should work w/ generic IR receiver and girder...

1. Jensen IR20 - $20

2. Blaupunkt RC10 - $40

3. Audiovox NPSWR - $??

4. Pioneer CD-SR80 - $39

5. VDO Dayton RCS5100/4000 - $??

The Audiovox/VDO Dayton looks best. Anyone know where to buy them?

Have you gotten any of these to seemlessly integrate with a CarPC to control WinAMP or iGuidance? I'd LOVE to have one of these for my Mazda6.

quick question, what frontend are you using with it
I mainly want this remote to just control the volume and next song command
should this work in any frontend?

roadrunner works well with remote paddle controls, map the 4 arrow keys and one for return and you can work everything except embedded apps.

If you just want to use it for winamp, later versions have global keys you can map directly to whatever key youve got your paddle presses working on.

why not purchase the stock remote for your steeringwheel from the dealer? Mine was $13 (my friend is the parts manager's brother)

For those of you using these kind of remotes, where have you positioned the IR receiever? Do you have problems of capturing the IR signal?

I had a remote on the screen, and the sensor located on the dash, behind the remote. The signal was good.
Although it has bulky buttons, I think the Blaupunkt one will better suit your needs.

Question

Do you guys know if the Jensen has good IR range... I would have to mount a USB IR receiver on the dash by the speedo to capture the signal... right?
