I'm guessing you would want a very tiny pressure sensor mounted in a valve cap, with some sort of wireless output to a receiver. Might be difficult to get it small / light enough and not stealable

TPIS is not easy I reckon

Valve cap sensors are problematic because they require that the internal valve in the valve stem be depressed all the time...making the valve cap sensor the only thing keeping pressure in the tire.

Don't all aftermarket sensors work this way ? I don't see how you could measure pressure without being inline somewhere in the airflow.

my car supports this with its over the head console(electronic vehicle information center) as they call it. I'd have to buy the sensors for it.

The pressure sensors will be inside the tyre and transmit the data by wireless xmission.

As someone above pointed out, many (most) systems are installed in the tire.

The earlier posters were discussing the concoction of a homebrew system, which I assumed would not involve dismouting their tires from their wheels, hence my comment.
