Altima nav keys

This is the key panel that plugs into the Bose HU w/nav on an 05-06 Altima. Does anyone know if anyone developed a way to interface this with a PC, such as through the parallel port? It would be awesome if I could use this to pass commands through Girder.

And I have been here several years, am pretty active on the boards, and have never seen ANYTHING like what you are looking for. Sure, there is a possibility that someone has taken the exact unit you have, and somehow interfaced it into thier carputer, but there is the possibility that I will date Heidi Klume after she ditches Seal and gives her kids up for adoption, so we can be with out kids and have a wonderful life together. Sure, it's possible, but NOT LIKELY, and that is what I told you.

If you would have searched the forums, you would find nothing. Because there IS nothing.

Oh ya, except for the POSSIBILITY.

Really, I hope for your sake that I am wrong, but, I am not. Sorry to tell you.

34 buttons, 2 knobs. It looks really cool, but the difficulty involved probably isn't worth it. Whoever helps you out with this needs to build a controller board from scratch, plus make or find software to communicate with it.

Also, hardware doesn't make good breakfast - the milk makes it all soggy.

Do you have the factory nav in your car or are you trying to use the buttons only for the carputer? You can connect directly to buttons but this will stop you from using the buttons with the factory nav unit. Im doing the same in my altima via the carbuttons device created by alcapone but you can also use a keyboard, the device by alcapone also connects to my steering wheel and only uses four wires. For the rotary knobs you can use a 2 phidget encoders or one phidget and a mouse. Let me know if you need more info.

I do not have the factory nav unit, just the oem nav cubby. I am trying to get some (any) function out of the buttons so if you could offer a little bit more detail, I would truly appreciate it.

It sounds to me like something similar may have been done before by someone, hmm, but don't hold your breath law boy, Heidi ho is a no go for you.
