I wouldn't advise it yet. at the moment, it's not being used for anything until I write a driver.

that's a nice find...but half of a tennis ball is rather large for in-car use...

looks like a nice device, but doesn't have nealy as many degrees of freedom as the space navigator (6 different axis). h/w wise, the space navigator is superior. the logitech only gets brownie points in the s/w.

yeah, it's not like the space navigator at all, BUT... it does look really cool to play with too.... I'm picturing it mounted on like a joystick axis, so the whole thing can also be articulated & used as a mouse.... I'm looking for something to use as a main control kinda like the idrive or the new benz... one central "knob" type interface... this is definatley worth checking out I think... it doesn't look too huge, & taking it apart may give some other options too...
I think I want one of these...

Hardware is only as good as the software it uses...

@Defiler: you mean software that uses it but very true nonetheless!
@turbocad: I'd double check the software capabilities of that too. It looks like it can do media functions, judging by the obvious play/stop buttons, but I'd defo look more into it.

Look well, the nulooq has much more freedom than the spacenavigator.
Just the lower part can do what the spacenavigator do,plus you have the wheel on the top that double its actions.

So, what does this device appear as in Device Manager?
If it's a HID device, Girder can be used to turn it's input into useful actions.
Could someone who has the device give us a screenshot of the device manager showing the SpaceNavigator?
I built a small rotary/joystick controller out of an ALPS device, and a device that turns it's digital input into HID signals, then wrote a plug-in for Girder that turns that into useful stuff.
Maybe a bit more effort than most are willing to expend, but if this is an HID device, it'll convince me to buy one, as it looks much prettier than my solution. :-)

Looks like it is a standard HID device.

So, this should mean that anybody that's even remotely handy with Girder should be able to bang away at this device and make it work.
I think I'll order one up pretty soon. Perhaps I'll download the SDK and consider building a driver, or at least releasing my Girder work with it.

I have the device. I'll plugin it in and see what it comes up as in the device manager. The last time I looked, it wasn't an HID device, but I'll double check that shortly...
