they are not radio control buttons I had to change my steering wheel had a bad wire in the spring coil so I picked up one with cruise so I decided to add them in to my existing control wiring(no I don't have cruise on the car.
Thanks,

What kind of random fluctuations do you get when you measure? Do they overlap eachother?
the 960ohm and 980ohm are very close. I don't know why they are so close. If you hold the 960 button down does it ever get as high as 980? And visa versa, on the 980 one, does it ever go as low as 960?

can you try to post the biggest range for all of them plz. If they overlap, then I am not sure how you wuld go about it. Something tells me they shouldn't. It sounds screwy, but personally I have never messed with it.

ok I will try it again and I was also thinking that it should only be giving one reading while holding the button
Thanks,

Also try and not touch the metal with your hands. Grip the multimeter by the plastic. Your skin has resistance too, and in small measurements, it really screws it up. It can have many factors too like how damp the skin is, and how hard you press.
So to get good measurements, no touchy!

well I tryed reading the resistance again and I get random numbers I never get the same thing twice so I am going to go by the salvage yard i use and test a matching wheel with everything hooked up and see what it reads so that I can see what is going on.
Thanks,
Yonu

ok I am not sure when I get back in town next week I will check the readings on the buttons again against a diagram that a member on a ford forum emailed my today. which I am going to attach. Also I went and did a reading on a wheel that was still attached and while the buttons was being held down the ohm keep changing evev tryed my old anolog meter
Thanks,
Yonu

ok I just got the time to do some more reading of the wires and No luck still random I have tryed 2 other cars that havve the same wheel and no luck so I guess I will just leave the steering wheel controls out of the interface for now. Sorry for the long response time but moving is a pain.
Thanks for your help,
Yonu

ok I have some free time again to work on this part of my interface I have still been unable to get a solid reading so what I am wondering is could I simply go in the sterting wheelka dn on each wire from the buttons wire a resister to them to change the ohms would that cause me to get a solid reading?

Hello hello again.
I think at this point because of those fluctuating voltages, you best bet is to just snip the wires off the back of that switch and wire the 2 sides of a keyboard button to it. Instead of messing with the weird resistances.

that would be great accept since they are in the steering wheel i only have one wire coming out of the spring coil for them all so i have no wat to connect in more wires
if you have a suggestion i am all ears

You have no way to get those buttons off? Or open the steering wheel to get to the plain buttons?
With those varying voltages, the only thing I can think of would be they are pulses. I doubt you can get an oscope in your car, or if you even have one.
Im out of simple ideas...
