Mirror your iphone display to an extneral display

There are several people working on this. It is my understanding that currently the touch features get disabled when you use the output mode. Even with touch disabled, this could be a great step in the right direction to getting turn by turn navigation working in cars with built in video screens or for people that just want to mirror the content of their iphone on their car screen.

Here is one of the links:

Has anyone done this yet?

There are many legit apps available from the app store for VNC.
Just search for vnc. Jailbreak is not necessary.

Edit: sorry, I read your post wrong. I was thinking of the opposite of what you said; viewing computer screen on iphone.

The two apps are TVOut and ScreenSplitr.

You will need to Jailbreak your iPhone to make this work.

Here are the instructions to get ScreenSplitr up and running (from developer website http://www.plutinosoft.com/blog/projects/screensplitr):

Instructions:
1. Install ScreenSplitr via Cydia
2. Start ScreenSplitr
3. Connect an AV cable
4. The app will return to the Springboard and ScreenSplitr icon should have a “On” badge.
5. The TV should show what’s on your iPhone.

To stop, simply run ScreenSplitr again.

I don't have an AV cable and have not tried any of this.

happy outputting!

chuck

This seems like a cool step toward iphone/carpc speaker-phone integration. I'd love to see a button on my main roadrunner skin that simply brings up my iphone display (maybe even just the phone portion) and allows calls to be made from the car's touchscreen and routed through the cars speakers and mic (of course, with nothing more than the phone sitting in a dock - no headset crap to plug in)...

Ive tried screensplitr and can't seem to get it to work. It works for like 6 seconds and then my TV goes black and it seems the phone stops outputting video, audio is still working.

Guys - It's my understanding TVout is better than Screensplitr so I'm going with that.
I have all this stuff in my head but I'm so ignorant on all this that it's hard to even formulate a question.

These 7" USB monitors http://www.mimomonitors.com/ (they also make one for Samsung and Buffalo) have recently been made available to the US.
One version has Touchscreen, Webcam, Audio.
I imagine one could rig them up with Wireless USB.

Now if only one could hook it up with the iPhone. There's gotta be a way. Or maybe not. Would there be ANY way to rig up something to port the iPhone to one of these 7" screens? Would would it have to be a full function screen like these Lilliputs everyone uses?

The jailbreak app for voice GPS was delayed till the first week of March or so.

It has to be the Apple cable, or it works for a very short period of time, like you described, then quits.

I go the other cable I ordered on ebay the other day and it works great. The best part is it only cost me about 7$ shipping and all instead of apples 50$s.
