Use PDAnet. It worked just fine for my Mac Mini on Leopard.

Just install PDAnet and follow the instructions from the Cydia page. Basically, you use the airport on your Mac to set up a wireless local network, then join it using your iPhone. After that, 'it just works' to give you net access.

No wire required. All Wifi.

Sorry, yes. Ad-hoc network.

It's WiFi. I don't think it can be done with BT, but I haven't researched it.

Wait, now, isn't Mac supposed to be so intuitive that we can do it with our eyes closed? Or is that it's only intuitive if you've never touched any other computer?

Hmmmm . . .

I've had this occur to me several times on the Mac. It's so simple it's not intuitive.

You DON'T NEED a desktop client to connect to PDAnet on your iPhone. It's all built in! You load it on the iPhone, run the app, connect to your ad-hoc Mac network and you are done.

Did you follow the instructions for setting up ad-hoc on the Mac? http://www.junefabrics.com/iphone/wifi_setup.php
