What setting do you have your 2nd screen options for? Is it independant settings with different resolutions for each screen, or do you have it set to clone the original screen?

Before I had my dock station, I ran the 2 monitor on the vga out port. The pc only allows you to extend to the 2nd monitor. I couldn’t mirror the first monitor. When I added the d.s. It would mirror, but it not a true 1:1 mirror so the touch either hangs up or its trouble off

I just looked at the links you provided. It appears that the quickdock changed from the one I have. I dont know if that makes any difference, but I never had a big problems with the ability to mirror the desktop on both displays. That makes sense as far as why you trying to make the ts the primary monitor.
What happens when you toggle the monitors when you use the function keys?

If memory serves me right, that should fix your problem.
The display toggle has 3 option:
1 primary display on laptop
2 primary display on external
3 primary display shared on both

If you tried to add the 2nd monitor with out toggling to the 3rd option it would treat it as a secondary desktop. But toggling to the 3rd option should give you the ability to mirror the primary desktop onto the 2nd monitor. The only hole is the fact that yu didnt have this problem b4 the docking station.
Its worth a shot if you havent tried that already.

Before I bought my ds I called hp and asked them about the silver one. (The one I think you have). The rep told me that sense I had the dv5 series; he told me that the “new black model” was the correct one for me. He also said that the main new feature was the “Project” function. I think this is causing some problem. The display toggle, is toggle by the FN+F4, right?
Say if the pc is open, the pc will only see the second monitor as an extension. Via vga. If you close the monitor it turns off after 5 sec. I tried to change the power setting. The pc will keep the hdd on but the monitors will turn off.
Say if the pc is plugged into the ds. The pc will try to mirror or extend. If it mirrors, the res drop on the laptop to complement the smaller screen. When you close the monitor the pc will go off as usual. When you hit the power button, it turns on. Now you’re in the project mode. If you’re where running the extension mode, the second screen works perfect. After you power up with the ds it screws up the touch.
Maybe I’m missing something. I will try your tips later today. But to make sure how do you toggle the monitor? FN+F4?

yeah what ever button has the square with lines on either sides, I believe it is FN+F4

*I just looked at the documentation available online for my notbook, it should be the same for this hotkey. I'd post the link but i'm on my work computer so it has limited functionality for the internet. But it states:
Press fn+f4 to switch the screen image among display devices connected to the system. For example,
if a monitor is connected to the computer, each time you press fn+f4 the image switches among the
computer display, the monitor display, and a simultaneous display on both the computer and the monitor.

So that should definitly fix your problem to allow mirror image on both displays.

Hey I finally got it to work. The trick for me was a very simple one. Plug in the dock station then turn on the pc and while it still running the bois, close the pc and that’s it. I tried the Fn+F4 again. This time I tried it on a different monitor. Vista gave me the option to mirror, extend, or only display on the 2nd monitor. I had to dig to find where this option came from. Thanks Vista! It turns out that this option is a different option then the HP Fn one. I found it in my control panel > classic view > windows Mobility Center. I still haven’t tried to unplug it and plug it back in and regain the touch function. I’m just glad its working one way. Thanks I will post later if its works that way.
