Fan error during post
I have a Dell Inspiration 2500. Every time I turn on the laptop, during post, I get a fan error message.
The lappy has two fans. When I first turn it on, one fan kicks on and the other doesn't spin. So I purchased a new fan essemble. No error message yet.
After installing the new essemble, the same things happens. Except now I get the error message.
I downloaded the newest bios from dell and tried to install it. It tells me that my current version is the same or newer.
The laptop runs fine except for the anoying error message. I have to press F1 to continue.
After initial post, I don't see the fan(s) turn on. So I don't leave the laptop on long. Is this possible a software issue with the bios, or do you all think its the mb?
If its the power going into the fans, I have an idea I would like your input on. Each fan has its own leads. Each lead has a red wire, black wire, and yellow wire. I've been doing some reading and I think the red is +, black is -, and the yellow tells the MB that the fans are working. If this is correct, I was woundering if I could run new + wires from somewhere else to the fans so they have constant power when the pc is on. That should, in my mind, tell the mb that the fans are working and stop the error message.
Please let me know what everyone thinks.
