My dell inspiron 1100 laptop battery died and i don't want to buy a 160 battery. So i was thinking can i use the CPU, memory and Harddrive and then buy a Intenl 478 socket mother board that would work in a desktop computer. would the parts work together? and what else would i need? what powere supply? Cables? parts?

I already answered that in your other thread. Dont cross post.

Memory is a NO again. CPU is a NO again. But yes you can use the harddrive.

And yes you need a power supply. How else will it get power?
And yes you need cables, but they usually come included with the individual components.
If you are using the laptop HD, then you will need a 44 to 40 pin adapter too.

A Case maybe? Screen? Keyboard/Mouse? Wifi? Bluetooth? GPS? Software?

And a 478 motherboard generally means a desktop CPU like a P4 or Celeron. Bad choice. I suggest against that.

Take a look at the FAQ's and the show off your project or even just read people's signatures or the dropdown list under the usernames and figure out what people are using. Go from there.
