Best way to power my laptop and turn it on

ive had a read through many posts but cant find a detailed answer

the following is gonna be mounted under my seat

im thinking of the best way 2 power this baby as soon as i start my car , and it has to turn it on and off ... with out the need to open this thing up as id also like to use it as a laptop now and then...

i been lookin at

But with the new firmware im unsure if this will work for me ?

any one fancy helping me out

I use this to turn on:

Then in power settings I set it to turn off after 1 minute when ac is removed.

This method seemed much less intrusive to me.

Not all NIC's support WOL, though. If yours does, this is a great way to do it and not worry about opening up/soldering inside your expensive lappy.

Use an inverter. Thats what i use and it works perfectly. So easyyyyyyyyyyyy

ine the end went for a centrino based mini-itx that i have built as was only 50 £ more expensive and a lot more powerful and conveniant

Sure you want to mound that nice tablet under your seat which is prone to getting dirty and wet and get kicked by the passengers?

I haven't built my carpc yet, because I'm waiting to sell my car...

However, wouldn't the Carnetix P2140 that supports usb wake and WOL be the best option? Will also allow you to easily switch down the road if you decide to go desktop platform standard wiring.

Still new at this, but that was my impression of the benefits of the P2140 (aside from the software monitoring)

indeed i came to tht conclusion , providing ur laptop uses Wake on Lan its a good subsitute

But.. i decided to sell the tablet and cosnstruct a proper PC .. check the worklogs section for my install
