laptop screen in carpc

Does anyone know if it's possible to take a laptop screen and use it as a second monitor in a carpc? I already have monitor installed and wired to a itx, but i was thinking of using my broken laptop and canabalising it's screen and using that. I've looked on other sites and most people want to use them as desk top monitors, I know from reading those threads that power is a problem( running of the mains ) obviously mine will be running of 12v.
Any help, advice or a plain no that's stupid will be appreciated
