LAptop to Monitor Problem....Help

I've got a Tos L35 series lappy, that I'm connecting to a monitor via VGA cable. My first problem was that it would only show the splaish screen then go to desktop but with no icons. Since then I've fixed that using the multiple monitor function in Ctrl Pnl. I have access to desktop w/ Icons, however when I open IE or Mozilla the page is so huge that even looking at something simple like youtube, I can't even fit the whole video in the screen. I've tried resizing Text size, etc... in the view pulldown menu. I've tried to change display settings in ctrl pnl, nothing seems to work. The monitor I'm using is just for intial diagnostic not my final product install in my car, but I would think that should not matter. Please help......

Hi mike what type of monitor are you using?...the reason i ask is if you are using a normal 7" lcd monitor you could try checking if your laptop has a built in tv out and using that rather then the vga cable and then just using the function key ( "Fn" on the key ) and one of you "f" keys eg : "Fn" + f4 that how its done on my Compaq laptop this transfers the screen mode to an external output device such as a projector or tv screen... don't know if this helps sorry if it doesn't...good luck

It should remember the previous state. If for some reason it does not, I suppose you could write a script to change the state on startup.
